DJ Selecta - Modern Era Weddings pgh, pa

A legendary pioneer of the Pittsburgh DJ and Hip Hop scene since the late 1980s, James Scoglietti, a.k.a. DJ Selecta, started his radio career at the age of 16, eventually hosting and DJing multiple college radio programs on two local college radio stations. In 1998, he was named “Best Hip-Hop Radio Personality” by In-Pittsburgh News Weekly, and the following year he opened Pittsburgh’s first Hip-Hop retail music outlet, 720 Records.

DJ Selecta has hosted a number of celebrated residencies at some of Pittsburgh’s hottest venues, and supported many international touring artists such as De La Soul, Pharcyde, and The Roots. He currently hosts a weekly funk & soul-based radio program (Grand Groove Radio) on Pittsburgh’s NPR-affiliate, WYEP.

One of the key features of DJ Selecta’s show, is a segment he calls “Respect The Architects.” Each week he focuses on the anniversary of an iconic album that showcases an artist’s music, and explores selections from other artists that were inspired by that album.
