Modern Era Weddings was founded in 2010 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The company expanded to Florida in 2016 and now operates year-round teams in Southwest Florida, the Florida Keys, and Pittsburgh, with a destination-wedding division for the Berkshires, the Poconos, and the DC metro area.
DJ MadMike is one of the lead DJs and emcees at Modern Era Weddings, with over 20 years of experience in events. He works as a wedding DJ, emcee, auctioneer, and game show host, and has personally performed at thousands of events. He is a 15-time winner of The Knot Best of Weddings award and a member of The Knot Hall of Fame.
Modern Era Weddings has won The Knot Best of Weddings award 15 consecutive times and was inducted into The Knot Hall of Fame in 2014. The company also holds top ratings on WeddingWire and consistent five-star reviews across The Knot Pittsburgh, The Knot South Florida, and WeddingWire, totaling more than 750 verified couple reviews.
Modern Era Weddings produces approximately 200 weddings and events per year across our Florida, New York, Pittsburgh, and destination markets, with active bookings every weekend during peak season.
Three things: (1) we specialize in Signature Wedding Weekends, full multi-day production rather than just a reception; (2) every event is led by a DJ who is also a trained emcee, so the music and the spoken program are tightly coordinated; and (3) we operate as one in-house team across DJs, lighting, photo, and live musicians, instead of subcontracting to outside vendors.
