Summer Camp Themed Weddings

Color war, talent show, campfire — the wedding weekend reimagined.

A summer camp themed wedding from Modern Era Weddings transforms your 1 to 3 day event into a nostalgia-driven experience with color wars, lawn games, bonfire programming, custom camp merch, bunk assignments, and live acoustic sets. Our fastest-growing package since 2023, with more than 30 events across the Poconos, Berkshires, and Florida resorts.

The work

Summer-camp themed weddings are immersive multi-day celebrations built around the camp-weekend format: cabin assignments, color-war competitions, talent shows, lakeside campfires, and adult-friendly versions of the camp activities your guests grew up loving. Modern Era produces the entire weekend as one cohesive experience — DJs, live music, MC programming, lighting, and on-site coordination — so the concept actually plays out instead of staying on the mood board. The format works best at private camp buyouts, lake resorts, and rustic estates where you can host 100–250 guests on-site for two to four nights, but we have produced scaled-down two-day versions at single-venue Florida and Pittsburgh properties that captured the same energy without the full sleepaway logistics. A typical weekend timeline opens Friday afternoon with cabin check-in, name-tag and color-team distribution, a welcome cookout with acoustic live music, and an after-dark s'mores and bonfire singalong led by one of our musicians. Saturday daytime runs the camp activities — color war, lawn games, a mid-day talent show with a real MC and sound system, and a sunset waterfront ceremony — before transitioning into a full-production reception with DJ, dance floor lighting, and late-night programming. Sunday closes with a farewell brunch, group photo, and an optional acoustic send-off set. Modern Era handles every entertainment and production element across that arc: DJ and emcee for ceremony, cocktail, reception, and after-party; live musicians for welcome, ceremony, and brunch slots; cold-spark fountains and dance-floor wash lighting for the reception; an MC who actually runs the talent show and color war (not just announces them); custom cabin and wayfinding signage; and a dedicated on-site weekend producer who is the single point of contact from arrival through farewell. We coordinate directly with your camp's facility team on power, generator placement, sound-ordinance windows, and rain contingencies — bring us in early enough and we will help you scout the right camp for your guest count and concept.

Modern Era Weddings uses day-rate pricing rather than hourly billing — your DJ, photo, and video packages cover unlimited hours on the day of your event. Photo booth packages run a fixed 5 hours of active rental time (additional hours are available as an upgrade). Pricing depends on the artist or DJ you choose, venue location, equipment needs, and whether the service is part of a multi-event Signature Wedding Weekend. Every couple receives a custom quote within 24 hours of submitting a consultation request.

What is a Signature Wedding Weekend?

A Signature Wedding Weekend is our flagship multi-day destination format. Instead of a single reception, we produce the full arc of the weekend, welcome cocktail party, ceremony, reception, after-party, pool or beach lounge, and farewell brunch, under one creative team with continuous DJ, emcee, and lighting coverage across every event.

Do you produce themed wedding weekends like summer camp or festival weddings?

Yes. Themed wedding weekends are one of our most-requested formats. We regularly produce summer camp themed weddings (our Camp Heinz template includes bunk assignments, color wars, bonfire programming, custom camp merch, hand-drawn camp maps, and morning megaphone announcements) and festival themed weddings (multi-stage line-ups, food-truck villages, lounges, branded wristbands, and late-night DJ sets). Every theme is layered on top of the same multi-day Signature Wedding Weekend production, one in-house team, continuous DJ and emcee coverage, and a cohesive creative arc from the Friday welcome through the Sunday farewell.

How far in advance should we book?

For peak Southwest Florida wedding season (October through May) we recommend booking 9 to 12 months in advance. Florida Keys destination dates and Signature Wedding Weekends fill earliest because of the multi-day commitment. Same-year and short-notice bookings are accepted whenever availability allows.
