Pittsburgh is Modern Era Weddings' hometown market, we were founded here in 2009, we're a Knot Hall of Fame inductee, and we DJ, host, light, photograph, and produce roughly 200 Pittsburgh weddings every year across the entire metro. What makes a Pittsburgh wedding different
Three things, in order: wedding pricing is 25-40% below comparable East Coast markets, vendor depth is unusually high for the city's size (Pittsburgh has a disproportionately large wedding-industry talent pool because of the volume of events the city hosts), and the city's geography compresses the weekend, everything is within 20 minutes of everything else, so welcome-dinner-to-ceremony-to-reception logistics are dramatically simpler than larger metros.
Seasonality
Peak Pittsburgh wedding season is May through October, with late September through mid-October fall foliage as the highest-demand window of the year. Summer (June, July, August) is the second peak. Winter Pittsburgh weddings happen, typically at the indoor-strong venues like The Pennsylvanian and PPG Wintergarden, but represent a smaller share of the calendar.
Why local-resident matters here
Most Pittsburgh DJs have worked one or two of these venues; very few have worked all of them.
