Modern Era Weddings is headquartered in Punta Gorda, Florida, and the bulk of our Southwest Florida calendar runs through the Punta Gorda → Charlotte Harbor → Fort Myers corridor — anchored on the north end by Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor, the 22-acre, 785-room waterfront flagship that opened in December 2023 and is now the largest single wedding property in Charlotte County. This is our home market. Most weeks our trucks roll out of Punta Gorda before sunrise, set up a Saturday wedding at Sunseeker or down the road at Sanibel Harbour Marriott, and are back at the warehouse before midnight. No out-of-region travel surcharge, no rented backup gear, no DJ flying in from Miami who has never set foot in your venue.

Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor sits on the Charlotte Harbor waterfront in Port Charlotte, five minutes across the U.S. 41 bridge from downtown Punta Gorda, and it has quickly become the headline wedding destination for couples flying into Southwest Florida. The property runs 785 hotel rooms plus 189 extended-stay residences, 60,000-plus square feet of meeting and ballroom space, 17 restaurants and bars including a rooftop, a marina, and the Aileron Golf Club, which means a Sunseeker wedding can host the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, after-party, and farewell brunch entirely on-site without a single shuttle. We have produced weddings across all of the Sunseeker event spaces — the Grand Ballroom for full-production receptions, the harbor-view terraces for waterfront ceremonies, the rooftop bar takeovers for welcome parties, and the poolside cabanas for casual day-after brunches.

Allegiant Air, the resort's parent company, operates direct nonstop flights into Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) from more than 60 U.S. cities — including Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Knoxville, Nashville, Asheville, Allentown, Stewart (Hudson Valley), and most of the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic — and PGD is a ten-minute drive from the Sunseeker front entrance. For couples whose guest list is half Northeast or Midwest, this is the easiest "destination wedding" logistics in the entire state of Florida: one nonstop flight, no rental car required, and check-in to ceremony in under an hour.

Production-wise, Sunseeker is a property we have already mapped. We know which ballroom load-in doors fit our truck without a forklift, where the green rooms are, which terraces have hard power vs. generator-only, the venue's noise-ordinance cutoffs by space, the in-house AV team and where their gear stops and ours starts, and the specific sound-design choices that handle the harbor breeze that picks up around 4pm. Sanibel and Captiva island ceremonies need wind-resilient sound design and weather-contingency riders we already build in by default. Fort Myers couples often pair the wedding day at a Lee County resort with a welcome party or farewell brunch at Sunseeker, since the Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) flight access is the easier option for out-of-state guests than RSW for a lot of feeder cities.

Peak season + booking lead time

November through April is peak Southwest Florida wedding season. Sunseeker's Grand Ballroom in particular books peak-season Saturdays around 14 to 18 months out — if you're targeting a Saturday between Valentine's Day and Easter, secure the venue date first, then call us. Summer (June through September) is hot, humid, and afternoon-thunderstorm prone; outdoor ceremonies in this window need a contracted indoor backup, and Sunseeker's interior ballrooms are a strong rain-plan story.
