Sarasota is an arts town with the venues to match, and the two most requested wedding sites here are a Gilded Age mansion on the bay and a 1920s radio magnate's estate up the Tamiami Trail, neither of which was built to hold a party and both of which are magnificent to throw one in.

The Ringling is the one that needs planning around, and to its credit it publishes its terms, which is more than most venues do. Rentals run from six in the evening until eleven. That last one is the strictest published sound condition of any venue we work anywhere, and it is not a reason to avoid the place, it is a reason to design the night for it, because a room that is going to be measured has to get its energy out of the arrangement and the space rather than out of volume, and a DJ who only knows one way to fill a floor will fight that ceiling all night.

The Powel Crosley Estate gives you the opposite problem in the best way, which is a house and a lawn on Sarasota Bay and a lot of freedom about how to use them, and the Sarasota Yacht Club is a member club rather than a venue you can simply rent, so the first question there is who is sponsoring you.

The other thing about Sarasota is that it is a town full of working performers, because the circus wintered here for decades and the arts scene it left behind never went anywhere, so if you want something live in the room this is one of the easier markets in Florida to get that right, and it tends to cost less here than flying the same thing in would.
